Next Stop: Ireland

Continuing with the One World, Many Stories Theme, today we visit Ireland. Here is an excellent picture book to share with those younger readers:

A Bit LostA Bit Lost by Chris Haughton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A Bit Lost by Chris Haughton (In America this has been published with the title Little Owl Lost)

This is an endearing picture book about a little owl who falls out of his nest while napping and has to then search for his mother. This book reminds me of both P.D. Eastman's Are you My Mother and Jeremy Tankard's Grumpy Bird. Little Owl asks a kind squirrel where his mother is and through description and communication they search. The illustrations are simple- limiting colors to shades of purple, red and chartreuse. Preschoolers will love to hear this one read over and over. I hope to see more adventures with Little Owl!

WINNER of Ireland's 2011 Bisto Award!
